If you’re in SA for Gather Round, why not make a day of it and soak up the best of the Barossa. Just a short drive from Adelaide (less than an hour) Seppeltsfield Road is lined with towering date palms, boutique wineries, restaurants, distilleries and hidden gems that’ll have you wondering why you didn’t visit sooner. Here’s our top tips for a memorable day on Seppeltsfield Road.
Coffee first
First things first – coffee! En route to Seppeltsfield Road swing by Darlings or Vino Lokal in Tanunda. With a big day of indulgence ahead it would be rude not to add a pastry or brekky treat to go with your coffee order.
Wine not?
Now you’ve lined your belly and the caffeine’s had a chance to kick in let’s talk wine. You're spoilt for choice along Seppeltsfield Road, our top picks include Two Hands Wines, Greenock Creek Wines and Tscharke (they're all walking distance from our place.) Other wineries further along the road include Laughing Jack, Whistler, Paulmara, Hayes and David Franz. There’s so many to choose from you’ll just have to come back again!

Time to eat!
Just a stroll across the road at the newly redeveloped Marananga School site, you’ll find Staguni. Owner/chef, Clare Falzon has created an absolute gem of a restaurant in an old classroom, complete with school blackboards and desks - but it's the food that really shines. Expect a highly seasonal, hyper local menu with Mediterranean small plates inspired by Clare Maltese heritage. Post lunch pop your head, next door, into New Wave Wines – a cellar door collective and say hi to Jeremy.

Gin O’clock at Seppeltsfield Road Distillers
Enough wine (for now) it’s time for the ultimate palate cleanser – gin! Take a seat at our place on the deck, order a tasting flight and sip your way through some seriously delicious gins. Feeling fancy? Try one of our seasonal cocktails or signature G&Ts – but sampling our world-famous Barossa Shiraz Gin one way or another while you’re here is an absolute must!

Seppeltsfield precinct
Wrap up your day trip, with a quick photo opp along the iconic Seppeltsfield Road with the date palms (there’s a dedicated photo spot – but please stay out of the vineyards). Photo captured for the gram (tick) it’s time to head to the historic winery estate, Seppeltsfield where wine, art, food, gin and beauty await. Wind down your day wandering through the estate; or top off a day well spent with a cheeky Seppeltsfield Wine or Prohibition gin. or wander through Jam Factory and Vasse Virgin.
Whether it’s the wine, the gin, or the incredible food that wins you over, one thing’s for sure - you’ll be back to explore more of Seppeltsfield Road, and the Barossa.
So, footy fans, make the most of your time in SA. Gather your mates, venture beyond the stadium, and discover why Seppeltsfield Road is a destination in its own right. See you soon - cocktail in hand!
